Elder Elizabeth Napeo rests on the sofa while her great-nephew, Kirby, watches TV. When Elizabeth was Kirbys age, the Innu were still nomadic hunters-gatherers and she had never seen a white person. Elizabeth spent most of her life in the country, following the traditional Innu way of life, and she is considered by many to be one of the last true mushuau Innu (Innu of the barren lands). |
